Paternity

For unmarried parents, a paternity proceeding, known as a proceeding to establish a parent-child relationship, is the first step for obtaining child support for your child from the other parent.  Paternity may be established by agreement, by the execution of a voluntary acknowledgement of paternity, or by court order following DNA testing.

After paternity is established, most of the matters regarding the child’s custody, visitation and support will be governed by the same provisions of the Illinois Marriage and Dissolution of Marriage which govern matters of children of married couples.  The attorneys of Kenny, Kain and Jablonsky have the knowledge and experience to represent your interests, as well as the best interests of your children, with professionalism and care.
